Races are the various peoples and species inhabiting the realms of the Serriyan Multiverse. Little distinction is made between those who are biologically compatible and those who are not, and the term even includes some who are not biological lifeforms at all. This terminology can get muddled at times -- elves are considered a race, and song elves are considered a race of elves. The term "subrace" is generally not used outside of some technical analysts, as it can be considered offensive.
